☜ Dark reading ☞
Many people in creative industry read at night, on their bed, trying to capture as much juice as possible from that inspiring book, knowing too well that it's not good for the eyes, yet being so deep in the flow is hard to turn back.
If you are among them, you should try to reduce the harshness of the light coming from the phone screen. Try to tune it at the same brightness as your surrounding light to reduce the stress on your eyes. If a lamp is not nearby, one trick I've found useful is to use your phone's flashlight: Just turn the flashlight on, point it to the ceiling or the wall, it will make up the ambient light and make the surrounding at the direction of your phone be almost at the same brightness as your phone screen. Adjust it a bit to find the sweet spot that doesn't disrupt the sleep of the others. Your eyes will thank you in the long term.
But as the saying goes, sleep early, sleep well, and don't read in the dark for too long.
